At Rue De Tokyo, we feel a responsibility to improve our company and its footprint on the world. We are fully aware that – like all other brands and companies that create physical products – we can never achieve complete sustainability. But we can all do more and do it better. Therefore, we continuously work to reduce our environmental impact.
Since our beginning, the desire has been clear: to create design in high-quality materials – with the heart in the right place. For a more responsible and respectful approach throughout the value chain. In recent years, we have built a strong foundation through knowledge, resources, and partnerships to help us move forward. We now know that we can look ahead with greater confidence.
Our work – now and in the coming years – is anchored in our sustainability strategy, which is based on four central commitments. They reflect the challenges we and the rest of the industry face, and the areas where we see the greatest potential for positive change.
1. People at the center
Behind every product are people who design, cut, sew, pack, and ship – ensuring that our visions become reality and land in customers' wardrobes. Each and every one of them deserves proper and safe working conditions. Therefore, we commit to ensuring social responsibility throughout our supply chain.
2. Resources are not infinite
Every time we bring a product to the world, it requires the use of natural resources – which are becoming increasingly scarce. Therefore, we commit to reducing our environmental impact and increasing circularity in our design.
3. CO₂ and climate
The pressure on our planet is growing. Therefore, we all have a responsibility to change both lifestyle and business practices. Today, we work with a CO₂ calculation concept that provides insight into our logistics-related emissions. This allows us to identify and act on areas of inefficiency and thus work purposefully to reduce our overall climate footprint. Therefore, we commit to reducing the organization's total environmental impact.
4. Transparency creates trust
Honesty and openness are crucial. We want to learn – both from ourselves and each other – and constantly improve. Therefore, we commit to practicing transparency in both our internal and external communication.
To ensure that we reach our goals, we have developed a clear strategy with concrete milestones and associated actions to be realized by the end of 2025.
It keeps us dedicated to our shared ambitions.
